ghost entering exploding crystals mob triggers crystals to explode

Title says it all, have a clip if needed. But basically, been wailing on a mob for a while crystals everywhere mob is 20%hp or so, ghost goes in all the crystals pop, then I kill mob and remaining crystals that triggered after ghost entered pop.
I think this may be something new, or just a random occurrence I never noticed before, where the ghost entering somehow refreshes the modifier list and triggers crystals to explode and start over.
Quite deadly.
