Mirror service / regulation ? Asking for advise

Hello exiles.

I've been playing POE on and off for a few years but never had the chance to consider things such as mirror tier items / services until this league.

What, if any, is the safeguard against being scammed for "mirror services" in this game? If I were to get scammed, does GGG punish the scammer and restore my currency?

Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated.
