What's your greatest POE crafting failures/regrets?

Mine was back in harvest.

I bought a 30% 6L all white slot armor base.

Crafted 5 awesome mods. IIRC:

Enemies can have 1 additional curse
Enemies explode on hit
1.6% crit chance to attacks
chance to gain power charge on hit
Physical damage taken as chaos

this was way back when enemies explode on hit mod was 100% chance. not the nerfed one we have today.

So i had 1 slot left.

i forgot what i wanted. maybe some more phys resistance?

i slapped a phys mod but it was not as high as i wanted. so i harvest rerolled phys to increase it.

after rolling it many times unsuccessfully i got fedup and was wondering if i could get rid of it and get something else on it.

so i was checking my glorious project then i realized something was wrong.

something was so damn wrong.

enemies explode on hit was gone. it is a PHYS mod.

omfg.

i played the entire night away trying to reroll that mod back into the armor but it never came back. i kept playing even as the constant notifications informed me that there were minutes left on the league.

when it gone down to the last minute and i had failed to get a proper harvest i just watched the timer. tick tick tick. everything froze. the league was over.

i was on so much hopium that harvest would return but when it finally did things were changed enough that its not easy for me to fix he armour.

ah shiznits. my biggest crafting regret and its all my fault of not paying attention to "phys" mods.

but on the flipside i managed to make a butt ton of nice maxrolled jewels.

my biggest crafting failure is that i never had the currency to start real crafting. i had some attempts but the real crafts are barred behind external ressources found only on certain discord servers.

eventually, crafting would be a fun thing if buying the item cheaper (in my price league) wasn't possible.
(yes, i'm talking about account bound items when you start crafting them with certain methods.)

Does card gamble on harvest count? I remember one day i started with 2 mirrors worth of house of mirrors, lost the first 2 gambles, didnt got the hint and kept trying to recover instead of cutting my losses and 2 minutes later, was 2 mirrors poorer

In actual crafting, i have too many failures to pintpoint any individual botch. I venture with craft a modest bit, but i overlook simple stuff way too much for my own good

Something stupid that i did was to lock 2 elevated preffix with awakener orb and happened to got a free third pref, and then when working the suff, i at one point metaprotect the wrong half and scour the elevated affixes...

One facepalming thing i did on settlers was crafting a minion helm, spent considerable amount of currency to get good ES mods on the helm and then dawned on me that +minions was a prefix and competes with the ES mods

Another blunder i do all the damn time is focus real hard on getting special suffixes like beasts skills or influenced stuff and much later notice that now i lack resistance/attributes(pains extra when i bought the item and paid substantial amounts specifically to have the preffixes and that specific resistence/attribute)

A minor failure that drives me mad despite not losing that much currency and i do very often is when alt-spamming to get a hard affix, like dictator, merciless or magister, i get the affix i want, but because at this point its been more than a thousand clicks im autopiloting, so i alt the item again, deleting my sucess. I just ragequit

Some of my biggest failures. The boots aren't complete garbage, though the new T1 life rolls... Agony.

I spent hundreds of divines over the course of about a year then gave up on the gloves and ring.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.
I was never a real crafter and I never will but a few years ago I had some currency and started to craft a chest. I completely understimated the amount of currency needed to craft a perfect item. When I had 3 perfect T1 prefixes I completely ran out of currency:

That was the last time that I ever tried serious crafting. ^^

Crafted mirror arch blade with 11 links recently.

Suffixes had been done, figured it would be better to slam the other 2 mods elemental damage with attacks and ruthless on it.

After 200 divines, block, slam, annul, scour prefixes I hit the mod and brutality next.

Cheering like a kid already and knew I just stick with it, because the torture of flushing down currency is far from being fun.

Recognised in maps immediately something is wrong. I was running trinity and did just elemental damage.....next time I won't settle with brutality support and read the mod/gem description.

1) Got mirror in the game (7-10 years ago) and used it to mirror lvl 10 rare blade. (my first and last xD) in A2.

2) One "season" I bought "Essence Worm" for 20 exalted (my last currency) and I thought that it doesn't work so I corrupted it and it lost "gem slot."

3) I created witch with high ES and took "Chaos Inoculation," but poison dmg could still one shot me.

4) I crafted life on necessary rare item and it increased base level +10. Had no currency to remove it. 8 lvls to farm with no dmg. xD
