How to scale minion damage? Noob question

Haven't used minions before, and the wiki doesn't make this clear. I'll use Summon Raging Spirits (SRS) as an example. It has the tags Spell and Fire. So would modifiers like "x% increased spell damage" or "...fire damage" affect SRS? Or does only modifiers that specifically mention minion damage work?

Also, for SRS specifically, it says it does phys damage that is 100% converted to fire. So if I had a "increased minion phys damage" modifier, would that increase its damage?

Can minions inflict ailments (like SRS inflicting ignite)? And does that ailment scale with MY modifiers to ailments and DOT?

Only things that say "minion" apply to minion dmg.
Minions can inflict ailments and it scales with minion dmg not yours
Yes, only the "minion" and "ally" mods.

Useful tips for scaling SRS damage, generosity + anger is huge dps for them, plus add Vaal Haste into the mix for huge boss dps.
Because they convert all phys to fire, you can socket abyss jewels with added phys or fire.

Get Animate Guardian with https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Windscream and flammability/elemental weakness on hit gloves, then cast the other yourself.

SRS can ignite, but their hit damage is very small so it doesn't add much.
Although I believe it's meant to be paired with https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Raze_and_Pillage

But unfortunately, srs fire damage pales in comparison to srs chaos damage.
Give them a 100% chance to poison, added chaos damage and envy + https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Malevolence (not anger) produces significantly more damage.

Wondering if the "Minions gain 6% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage" does anything. Cause does that get applied before or after damage conversion?

Because minions are limited to 1 ignite per monster, the focus is not on the damage over time, but the increased damage against ignited enemies.
It's additive, so if you're stacking added phys to minion jewels or example https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Summon_Carrion_Golem, Raze & Pillage gives you an additional 6% extra fire damage based on your physical damage.
It's less effective if you're stacking added fire damage.

In this setup you swap https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Anger for https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Envy, since added fire damage cannot poison. Envy is the chaos version of Anger, giving the minions added chaos damage.

It does, srs at lv20 has 154 to 232 base physical damage
+4 to 5 added damage
= 158 to 237
100% physical damage convert to fire
with raze and pillage
an additional 6% physical damage gain as fire
plus the minimum 10% increased minion damage from taking the node prior to raze and pillage
gives; 174 to 261 physical damage.
With conversion to fire + 6% = 106% physical to fire
gives; 184 to 277 fire damage
