Torchlight Infinite is like PoE but for mobile

I spent the weekend playing Torchlight Infinite. Level 86, beat the campaign and I am currently in tier 6 maps (second to last tier?). In general, it doesn't seem to be pay to win at all. Also, the mechanics and skills are very VERY similar to PoE. I was surprised how similar the two games are, actually.

Up to and including unintuitive mechanics. Takes a bit of time to understand what each colorful bubble is for, or how TI's version of Delirium works.

Also........why anime? Is this what mobile games are about nowadays - catering to anime fans?

But yea, I was actually pleasantly surprised. It's not that bad at all.

TLI fails because of 4 things

1. art direction. some people like it but some people LOATH it. its very divisive.

2. P2W. tho p2w pets actually contributes 10% player power at end game (most of player power comes from gearing). the fact its p2w makes people avoid it like the plague. i would also point out that some people hate gatcha too and avoid the game because its gatcha.

3. its "mobile". theres a strong stigma against mobile games. "mobile games are shitty games". that sort of sentiment.

4. it carries the torchlight brand but is VASTLY different from the original series.

its quite a shame. i enjoy TLI a huge lot, and in the recent season they reworked a huge lot of things. you can use all heroes (except the season pass one) without needing to purchase them (previously you needed to purchase a hero before you could use em).

TLI has a lot of promise. its a shame that because that people are biased against TLI because of 1 or more of the 4 items i mentioned. it definitely is a real good game.

and its free.

personally, when talking to POE'ers i describe TLI as POE Lite
