Critical Strike Affliction with Poison

Hi everyone.
I was looking at some Crit Poison builds with Perfect Agony in PoB and noticed something. The wording on Critical Strike Affliction support gem says: "Supported Skills have +(70-98)% Damage over Time Multiplier for Ailments from Critical Strikes". Since poison is not applied on critical strike with chaos or physical damage like shock would apply on crit with lightning damage, or ignite would apply on crit with fire damage, you would not gain any damage for poison with this support gem ever, even if you are capped critical strike in PoB. Similarly other passives, like Dire Torment, on the skill tree with the same wording does not give any damage.
I know PoB is not the game and maybe in game it works differently and i dont know how to test it. Does it work like that in the game and doesnt give any damage for poison? That is my question

Critical strikes do not inherently apply bleed or poison, but that does not stop hits that are critical strikes from applying bleed or poison. While ailments do not benefit from modifiers to Critical Strike Multiplier, they do still get a bonus to Damage over Time Multiplier when they're from a crit.

The issue would come from using the gem with Perfect Agony. The wording on the gem is "Supported Skills have +(70-98)% Damage over Time Multiplier for Ailments from Critical Strikes". Perfect Agony says that your Damage over Time Multiplier for Ailments is equal to your Critical Strike Multiplier, so modifiers to your Damage over Time Multiplier will not affect your ailment damage over time.

I think you are right, thank you for the explanation.
So i either use Perfect Agony and scale crit multi to increase my damage, or i dont use Perfect Agony and can benefit from Critical Strike Affliction and similar modifiers and DoT Multi modifiers.
Kind of a bummer they dont work together.
