Wrapped in Flame + totems question

A simple question. If I use RF and have the passive + Ancestral Bond do my totems have a chance to cover enemies in ash on hit?

I think that only means totems can deal damage not you, I don't know if specific conditional mechanic type things can apply via that way. Test it out and see what you can find.

Well, having culling strike means my totems also have culling strike. Already tested it with

So why is Wrapped in Flame different exactly?

It says "5% chance to Cover Enemies in Ash on Hit while you are Burning", it doesn't even say I must be the one hitting, just the one burning (with RF)

It would have been so much easier if "covered in ash" and other debuffs had a proper icon but nope, gotta release more MTXs

It's hard to say just from the passive description alone. Totems work by inheriting your offensive stats and the debate is whether the inherited stat is "5% chance to Cover Enemies in Ash on Hit while you are Burning" or "5% chance to Cover Enemies in Ash on Hit" and the "while you are Burning" conditional stays on your character. The former would mean your totem needs to be burning, not you.

Easy enough to test though. Just put a fast hitting skill like blade vortex on a totem and check whether enemies get the grayish ashy texture. Especially easy to test on larger bosses like Kitava.

Oh, and Doedre's Gluttony is different because its conditional depends on the enemy, not on "you". In fact, if Doedre's Gluttony works with totems it's highly likely that your totem needs to be burning to benefit from Wrapped in Flames, because in both cases a "you" related modifier would be applied to the totem.
