Ore being smelted whitout peasents on mentioned job

Hello, i noticed that while i dont have any peasants for example on Verisium smelting job, ore is still being smelted. So if i want to keep this expensive ore, i must stop smelting on all ores. Am i missing something? Does it make sense?

That is working as intented. There is a 'help' button somewhere that explains it.

Basically, assigned smelters wil prioritize the ore they are assigned to, but if there is no ore of that type left they will smelt other ores. Same with the miners.

It is quite annoying when you're still upgrading the town because some upgrades required the ores and not the bars.

This had me confused as well in the beginning I was always thinking my verisium was getting eaten up by other ores lol and I used to stop other ores.
