Yeah you need to fix your resistances. Lightning coil is a good item, but not at the cost of being majorly uncapped on res. Your taking about 5x lighting damage than you would be if capped. Don't worry too much about chaos res at this point but cold and lightning need to be capped.
Check out some build guides for toxic rain and see how you can improve yours. This looks similar to what you are trying to do. https://maxroll.gg/poe/build-guides/toxic-rain-ballista-pathfinder Can't verify if the guide is any good, but it's quite extensive. There is a detailed levelling section and looks like you have a lot of the gear already. Seems like the build is at least viable, so you should be able to get it working from the point you are currently at. Without reading the build I can almost guarantee they intend for you to have capped resistance. (Edit: lol its in there! point 17 on progression " Your belt has no res on it, I would look at that first, then some of the other rare items. Your unique items and tree look to be what they are suggestion. Check your skill gems as well, haven't looked into your damage but it could be that you main problem is just getting res fixed. ) Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Oct 1, 2024, 6:06:31 AM

Is there another chest piece you would recommend. I've seen a bunch of stuff about carcass jack being good for tr but all of the post about it are years old so idk if anything has changed.
Thank you though i will work on getting my resistances properly capped. |

That build guide is using Lightning coil, so it probably is the right one to use. If you want to use something in-between while you are your fixing your res, Carcass jack is probably a good option, or just a rare armor. You will just be weaker against physical damage until you get lightning coil set up. Personally I would just keep the lightning coil and improve the other slots. You can get lots of res on a belt. Flask might also be an option, but I prefer constant capped res myself in most cases. There are lots of options.
By the way I don't think you are using the crafting bench. If you don't know about this you cant add a mod on rare items tha have a free slot. Not sure you have in free suffix, which is needed for resistance, but keep that in mind if you are finding or trading for upgrades. Eg, it is possible to add about 30 lightning res to a belt if u have a free suffix. I would say you want to look at upgrading all your rare items at some point, this is where a lot of resistance can be gained. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Oct 1, 2024, 12:13:14 PM

You're right about that for sure i haven't been using the crafting bench i know it exist i guess i've just been ignoring that.I didn't know about the suffixes I'll take another look at it.
Thanks for the info i'll get my resistances capped and see how the build is feeling. If you don't mind a quick side question is there any build you recommend for newer players preferably a cheap one? Most of them seem really expensive i barely have any chaos orbs no chance i have 10 div lmao |

I think what your doing is fine. See how it goes once you've got the res fixed. I think you can probably get this fixed for a handful of chaos or some Rogging. You can trade 1 DIV for chaos, it should be enough to upgrade all your rare items.
This is like half the build advice questions on the forum, people not understanding capped res is important, the other half are about physical damage, which you will have covered by lightning coil. Once you fix that can look at if your damage needs improving. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Oct 1, 2024, 1:01:53 PM

Im gonna throw something together to help you with your TR build. I ran it for several leagues in the past.
Keep in mind this skill has seen multiple nerfs from several leagues back. Not the best build to really accomplish much of the aspirational content in this game. And Pathfinder is not beginner friendly when it comes to this build. Champion for defense(beginner friendly) or deadeye for offense(even less beginner friendly than pathfinder) would be the preferable choices. But Critical Get your resistances capped You are level 81 and this should have been done before you reached act 3 of the campaign. Tree
Spoiler
1) Stop going for totem nodes, none of those matter. Your totems for TR should only be there to apply wither. You run two six links for TR, one for your totems with wither support and one for your main skill.
2) Stop going for flask nodes, none of those matter. Flask nodes are for really niche end game bosses where you might want the recovery charges/effect. 3) Stop going for leech nodes, none of those matter. TR has horrific upfront damage and provides no leech. Just get an enduring mana flask for sustain. And pick up some life regen somewhere on gear. 4) You're running eternal blessing, get rid of the mana reservation points you dont need them yet. 5) Path out from the start of ranger down through the dexterity nodes. You dont need the small attack speed nodes, and projectile damage nodes. They provide little and you can spend points elsewhere for a lot more power. 6) Dont worry about jewels yet. Get your levels up first. Gear

Critical Scale your evasion You need to get eva/ar or eva/es bases and properly scale your evasion, this is your defensive layer on this build. Preferably grab eva/ar bases for every piece except the body. Get a eva/es base for the body.(For ghost dance notable) For your res problems. Get rid of all these uniques I am seeing. Lightning coil, yeet it. Dont need it, can pick it up MAYBE later but it does nothing right now.. Get a proper eva/ar or eva/es chest with res. Preferably eva/es for Ghost dance notable. Wilmas, yeet it. Dont need or want it. Get a proper eva or eva/ar helmet with res +life Both unique rings, yeet them. Dont need or want them. Get proper resist rings with life, worry about curse on hit with dispair much much much much much later. Quiver: You have the right idea, just need better mods. Attack speed/Life/DOT, fill the rest out with resistance. Worry about fire additional arrow much much much much much much later. Bow: Get a +3 bow, and a 6 link. Quil rain can carry you if you are not new to the game but you need a +3 bow. Even a +2 grove bow +attack speed is better than quil rain. 6 link when you can. TR link priority main weapon 1) Void manipulation 2) Efficacy 3) Vicious projectiles 4) Mirage archer 5) More duration (worry about empower much much much much later) TR totem link priority wither 1) Multiple totem 2) Ballista Totem 3) Withering Touch 4) Efficacy 5) Void manipulation (or you can do focused ballista if you dont want them automated this is a higher skill expression though) Tree Changes

This gets you spell suppress and some res, along with life and more damage. Its up to you to get your res capped from gear suggestions I explained above. From here you want to go up and grab nodes as you level to get the chaos nodes up the top. This is what youll grab before you move onto cluster jewels.

Ghost dance is in the red box
Its up to you to stay pathfinder. I see people play it now a days but again, this is not a real beginner friendly build. You can try to cross reference what I put as well as what you see on ninja. It is a bit different then how I suggested but the recommendations I put in here will at least maybe guide you to doing what those people are doing. My build is available on my character "ToxicRainDuelistLol" if you want to reference it. Keep in mind though its from Expedition, banners dont work like the used to...mana reservation nodes were removed from the tree etc... Hope some of this helps! Mash the clean

holy shit you're awesome this is super helpful. I knew the rings were a bad idea i just couldn't tell if anything else that was dropping was better or worse I need to get a better understanding of all the stats so i'll watch a video or two on that. Thank you for the insanely detailed response helps me get a better understanding of what to focus on.
Especially on the gems i kept rereading every support gem and the forgetting what they do and rereading them so the list is a nice touch. I didn't know about any of the tr nerfs or anything until i started looking at other builds and some old reddit post which made me rethink my choice but i already felt to far in to want to delete and restart.the build is doing decent damage and its very comfortable to play i think thats mostly why i never switched off of it. This is also just a really cool skill I would've loved to see it in its prime to be honest. If anybodys interested in knowing I will make the necessary changes and update you all on how the build ended up performing. This is all a huge help for a new player.
