Story and references

A lot of player in ARPG just skip every dialogue and focus on the monster grind and power creep, but either at some times when they play the same game for a very number of times they try to see the story; or some players just follow the story and dialogue from the start.

This game has a lot of references but there is one that i don't get where it's coming from, during the league with the seer mechanics there was a line who said :
"the void protect it's children". Can someone enlight me about this reference ?

I know barely anything about the story line. I've got the general gist, but that's about it. I think the design is pretty good, not forcing it on the player, but giving enough information for people who are interested to explore more. I wouldn't mind an option to have more of the story line in the game, without having to click on all the things that proc the information. So long as it isn't forced. Heist comes to mind for this, the Vox storyline is interesting and well created, but when you're standing around waiting, listening to a 2 minute conversation, it doesn't work. Needs to be over the top of the game play, and optional for people who don't want to listen to it. I think the Dominus voice lines reading the letter between act 4 and 5 is an example of it working well. You get some of the information, but it isn't interfering with gameplay. If you could listen to all the NPC dialogue without having to interact with it, I would be interested in hearing it, at least on one playthrough, so long as you could toggle it off if you didn't want to listen to it on a playthrough. Oni-Goroshi is another example where there is a lot of voice lines that work.

That is a Maven voice line I thought. On one of her abilities while witnessing. Think it might be adding block. I don't know exactly what it is in reference to or if it occurs elsewhere. Would need someone familiar with the lore to explain it.

when talking about the universe, sometimes people refer to it as the void. because space, if you think about it is practically empty. imagine a cup of stale water.there might be some particles in the water but they are so far apart from each other you barely notice. it's vastly "empty".

hence the void.

another interpretation is void is from a different dimension. called "the void".

whatever it is, maven comes from the void.

as for what maven does is she WITNESSes you fight bosses.

then she invites you to do her challenges where she "RECREATES" the bosses.

since she creates, she is "a mother", and her creations are "her children". but she doesnt make that distinction and just uses the blanket term as all of them including her come from the void. and thus she is referring to herself as "the void" as a representative of the void when she says that phrase.

as the representative, when she buffs her children, technically its "the void, proctecting its children".

In slav mythology ther is "Pierwnica" - Firstnothing. Thow Womb in which Sviatovid manifested. Then Pierwnica created her daughter and together they made world as it is.

But Firstnothing is still there around The Existence and with The Existence light it breeds "children" - creatures of The Void one might say. And alas Firstnothing is not "aware" in human ways its "care" about her children.

I think Mave is some kind of manifestation of that force because its a defence mechanism. One may ask if the void is nothing then waht exackly is eating it?

Not sure if Affliction's Nameless also count ??

I’m not sure about the exact reference either, but it sounds interesting. Maybe it’s tied to the void lore from previous leagues?

Dunno really but noticed that Exarch is naming Maven "hatchling" as it would refer to her as something rather new and young. This would explain Mavens childish "sense of humor".
