WTF... freeze up in a map and now I can't log in?

I froze up in a map and I had to alt+F4. Now I can't log into that character because "Failed to join instance"

If you are using steam you can try to verify integrity of game files in game parameters that often fix these issues, i am not sure if a similar thing exists for standalone client or not but that error is often caused by errors in game files
