Gold respec doesn't consume gold (SSF Ruthless)

I've wanted to respec 5 passive points for gold, but the confirmatipn button couldn't let me to do so (after clicking the button, whenever I was clicking one (1) singlular time or spam mashing, it doesn't show the result of respec and the button just stays the same).

However, after the respec attempt, I opened my passive tree and the points were in fact respeced and my gold wasn't consumed.

Edit: after reloading, my passive points were reverted to the original state before respecing, however, after reloading/quitting out I am still unable to do any respec.
