Harbringer Scarab of Warhordes not functioning with unspeakable offensive?

So i just had a facturing orb drop and no shards. Which means the node unspeakable offensive triggered. However, does this mean if the node on the tree triggers the scarab cannot? If it does at least i should have gotten 1 orb and 1 shard since the scarab is a certainty (dupe) even if the tree node is not.
