Thoughts about the new reworked ascendancy class - the Warden
Hello everyone, I would love to hear your comments about the new ascendancy, the Warden.
I'll start by sharing my gaming experience this league. I played a Warden with Lightning Strike, the version with Svalinn and max block. First, I want to say that Svalinn made the build viable because, without the block, it was unplayable. I was able to acquire Nimis and Mageblood, complete the 40 challenges, and farm endgame content. Now, let's get to the painful part. Can it handle most endgame content? With the right investment, potentially yes. Will it be comfortable? Definitely not. The DPS is more than sufficient to one-shot T17 bosses and destroy all Uber Bosses , that don't have a thousand phases, in just a few minutes. The problem is that any tricky mods on T17 maps (volatile cores, sawblades...) can make the map almost unplayable, and you have to pray to complete it using all six portals. Any mob that looks at you the wrong way, the moment you fail a block or evasion, you're dead. If something grazes you during a phase of a boss or an Uber boss, you're dead. EHP can be increased to a certain point, but even with more health and defenses, something will always kill you. Do you have chaos resistance at 60%? You'll still die from chaos damage. Do you have physical mitigation? You'll die from the first physical hit. In conclusion, the Warden suffers from the classic problems of rangers, namely being squishy. What do you think of the rework in general? Haven't tried it yet, but I use to play raider a bit, was my preferred class as ranger. Why did they rework it, seemed like it was ok to me? Warden looks interesting, I just didn't think raider was particularly in need of a rework.

As much as I liked raider, i'm trying out the warden at the moment and am also liking it. Haven't gotten that far yet, but it seems pretty good. I'm wondering how much build diversity it will have. Seems like it will be very powerful for a few builds but the elemental ascendancies might be a bit more limiting the some other broad ascendancies. Tincture combinations probably do create a lot of options. Seems like a good starting point for the class balance wise, they have done well with that.
