Max spell suppress vs 86% All resists
My Physical reduction will already be about 90% and my Chaos resist will be fine too so I'm trying to figure out what elemental mitigation to use
86% to all 3 resists vs Spell suppress Which one do you think is more valuable in end game? Last bumped on Sep 21, 2024, 3:37:01 AM

Neither of those are interchangeable. Spell suppression, as the name suggests, helps only against spells, both physical and elemental/chaos. Max resistance works against elemental attacks and spells.
So if u only care for elemental mitigation, there is really only one answer -> Max resists. Best is obviously to get both, because I'm pretty sure u're not always at 90% physical damage reduction aswell, unless u have like 200k+ armour. For me personally it really depends on the build. If I can't get max res easily, like on a Shadow, I'm getting suppression first and care for elemental mitigation later. On a left-side build it's the other way around. Very rarely do I skip spell suppression, because it doesn't fit in the build. I'd rather not get max res tbh. |

Assuming u have 75 max ele res.
Going to 86 max res would mean you take 44% less ele than you were taking. Suppression will give you 50% less but only against spells. That's a simple break down, but there will be a lot of other factors. Suppression will also work against phys/chaos. As Sadaukar is saying, you wont have 90% PDR against larger hits. It's going to depend on many other factors on your build and exactly what you are trying to achieve. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Sep 20, 2024, 6:10:07 PM

I'd go for 86% max resists, because it helps against attacks as well.
Physical damage as extra elemental damage mods are very common in maps. |

86 max res will pretty much outperform spell suppression as a defence stat unless penetration is a problem.
Which it is on most bosses to be fair or on harder modifiers. For general mapping though lets say 86 max res by an absolute mile, once you get to mod heavy or boss specific T17/Ubers etc Suppress becomes more valuable (its also usually cheaper to get capped suppress than 86 max res in build cost terms) The fact max res works on damage over time and attacks is huge though - I personally go max res over spell suppress everytime if its a choice but it usually isn't. Edit: Also its unusual to get to 86 max res and not be able to get the remaining 4 somehow Last edited by Draegnarrr#2823 on Sep 21, 2024, 3:38:24 AM
