About a mirror into splitting steel trickster, feels meh on damage?

Hi exiles - I'm doing something wrong, no doubt. This is my new alt and dumped about a mirror into it and learning a ton. Defensively, this build is virtually unkillable. But the damage and clearing kind of sucks and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I think your losing a lot of damage by going aegis iron reflex that's about 15 passive points or so you could have into damage and energy shield and stuff.

I don't really see anything hugely wrong with your build.

Isn't splitting steel of spraying the high dps splitting steal?? I might be wrong about that haven't really played splitting steel endgame.

I had a thought that the extra projectile you get from passives might be nerfing your damage by making it harder to actually hit monsters but idk if that's true with splitting steel or not. I do know I took it this league on a dif char using lightning strike and it omega nerfed my dps till I removed it.

Nice char though I think it might just be you don't have enough energy shield / damage from going aegis but I mean that probably makes you invincible so it's a trade off.

I would say if your interested in trying something else look into svalinn shield it's really really over powered and only takes an anoint for block to make a character omega tanky. I know trickster svalinn isn't meta right now but I'm trying it out and it seems pretty strong. Though I don't have the op jewel yet so my char is kinda weak right now.

Thanks! Yeah, this is definitely a head-scratcher. I re-arranged some stuff and got some improvement, but I'm still wayyyy off the folks getting like 10-50M damage on splitting steel. I'm mystified on how they're doing it.

You're probably thinking of lancing steel not splitting steel on spraying. And yeah I definitely need more # of projectiles I think. Maybe lightning strike is the way to go, after all.

The defense though is incredible - I literally can't die (I'm actively trying to die in t17 boss rooms). It's pretty awesome in that aspect.

I think this build probably ramps a lot. I haven't played it but I played ephemeral blade trap trickster last league which is very similar. How much ES do those other builds have? Assuming it can get a lot higher than 10k. You only lvl 89 so extra points will make a difference. Also not sure its a super high damage build. Very tanky, but doesn't completely focus on damage.

maybe you just have too high expectations? i play the same build and dont even have a nimis or MB yet but the damage feels fine...i can clear t17 map bosses. sure they take a while but that should improve when i get a nimis. just try a different build maybe, there are builds that do much more damage and currency doesnt seem to be an issue for you

I think my expectations are coming from others using the same build: On poe.ninja plenty of people have 10m+ damage and almost 20k ES with nearly identical gear. Something is scaling their damage better somehow that I can't figure out. I thought it was them padding their pob config but that didn't seem to be it either when I checked. For reference, I've got 11k ES and only 3m damage. Once I'm 98 I'll have another cluster jewel in place, but that's not nearly enough to bridge the gap.

i'm pretty sure the people with 20k ES dont use aegis. if you drop the shield and all the block nodes on tree and get a rare shield with high ES and a bunch of jewels with ES and whatever else you want, that will get your ES much closer to 20K and extra ES will boost your damage also but then you will just mostly rely on leech to survive. i have 14K ES but i use a crystal belt not MB. if i dropped aegis and block nodes i could get closer to 20K but i prefer to be tanky.

Well if I put your POB upto 20k es and add damage nodes up to max level your DPS is upto about 7mil, so that is pretty close.

Can you link one of the profiles you are comparing with, someone might be able to spot some of the main things. It is probably a bunch of small incremental factors that are multiplying together.

I was going to say I think your int might be a bit low and you also don't have the int attributes cluster that is fairly huge amount of ES you lose. Int scales energy shield about as good as anything so getting int on your gear on an ES build is fairly important.
