Any reason why my corrupted map will spawn a different map location at random?

I cannot complete my map bonus since everytime i corrupt my map to get the bonus and place it on a map device, it will spawn a portal to a different map which makes it difficult to complete the bonus. Is this normal? what should i do?

There is a chance each time that you corrupt a map that it will turn into a different map, usually a tier higher. It often takes a while to get the map that you want.
