Armor Type Matter?
been playing for first time about a week now. Decided on heirophant Ice Nova of Frostbolts... I think that's what it's called. Still in overload with all the information on this game.
Well i just did my ascendancy quest at level 45, didn't even know there was a quest to do it, then again, there is so much i am trying to learn, really enjoying the game. In the lower levels, does it matter if i wear plate, leather, cloth or chain? I've always just been picking what seems better, Just hit 51, just finished act 5. So far, it's going good, not really having mana issues and not dying a lot. Now trying to gather more info. And what's the deal with evasion and armor, as a caster which should i look for. I read somewhere just look for life, mana and resistance gear but that seems pretty vague. https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/camsson/characters Last edited by camsson on Sep 15, 2024, 7:09:06 PM Last bumped on Oct 16, 2024, 4:51:50 PM

sure it does. Let me give you basics of defensive measures of 3 main types of equips
Amour: Provide PHYSICAL reduction Evade: Provide Chance to EVADE but is kinda made in a way where eventualy you are kinda GARANTEED to be hit to no make it too random Energy Shield: Provide none of the previous and act like a layer for your life for non chaos damage unless you have a skill or item that change this rule. Also, Energy shield is much easier to scale than life. But to say it directly. I find that under level 75. You could simply use a tabula, all white gear with proper socket and get by. So no, at 45 it doesnt really matter but getting life/resist capped as a new player is a very nice convenience since you probably die often to mechanics of mobs you havnt got used to dodging. |

prior to the end of the story what matters the most is sockets and capping your resists, after you've finished the story but before voidstones, cap your ele resists, meet your gear requirements, get as much life, chaos resist and es as you can and start upgrading towards endgame gear pieces when you can. For archmage ice nova cloak of defiance is used to enable more efficient tree pathing, I would recommend not swapping over to it until you have a decent militant faith and the 5 or 6 divs you will need to buy unnatural instinct + a lightning damage light of meaning, prior to that you should run a rare body armor with life, mana and ideally %life and mana.

" In the beginning, which consists of 10 acts, you shouldn't be worried too much about armor. HOWEVER, it helps to have armor. Mainly, since you're playing as Templar, you should focus mainly on both Health and Mana regeneration at first. Now, you should have a bit of armor, yes, but mainly you're looking for higher health, better health regeneration, higher mana with higher mana regeneration and more elemental damage and spell damage, especially increased ice damage in your case. With maximizing your mana and health, along with the regeneration, you should probably look for OR craft resistances on your equipment. |
