Magmatic strikes + timeless interation

I have a Elegant hubris positioned rigth by the Eternal Youth point, with that I'm able to transfor Magmatic strikes into a 80% spell damage node.
But I still get the magmatic strikes buff, even it being transformed into another passive.
I've tryed this interaction with other nodes, and it seems to work only with magmatic strikes, probably because its not a permanent buff or status.
It happens being in battle or in hideout.
