Chat Command that Automatically Adds Zone/Location I am in?
I have been wondering this for a long time and after years of searching have never found a solid answer.
Is there a chat command variable that adds the zone I am in to a message? For example, when I receive a message while delving I usually need to hit my macro that responds by telling someone that I am "busy" at the moment. But I would love to let them know what I am busy with. For example "@last I am currently in ZONENAME, but I will be with you as soon as it is complete. Thank you for your patients." To further clarity "@last" is a variable that automatically will whisper the last person who messaged you, without you having to type in their name. Is there something like this for my current location / zone? Last edited by King_Yoshi#4778 on Sep 8, 2024, 5:21:14 PM Last bumped on Sep 9, 2024, 10:20:02 PM

Just say you're in a map and you're good.
Nobody cares if you're in lab, delve, map or fighting some uber boss. Everyone wants to know if and when you'll get back to them. |

I know. I am just wanting to provide a bit of additional information to buyers so they can have a educated guess as to how long it will take before we can trade.

Sounds like a decent idea to me, I've made some posts about this system needing some improvement. What the post above is saying is correct though. More information doesn't always lead to better communication. Lets say you ping the buyer that you are in lab. What now? They know why you're unable to trade but it doesn't solve the real problem that trading in certain zones is difficult.
The main problem that I've encountered is that the seller doesn't get the same information as the buyer. You can get a request from a different league by someone who has made a request, but cant see what league they are in within the trade request message. This is usually found out when you invite them to party and it gets blocked because they are in a different league (This is mainly a problem for modes like Ruthless getting requests from standard trade league). I don't think the buyer gets any feedback on that either. Pinging them that you are in lab would actually make this worse. You ping them, they wait, then when you finish lab you invite them, and the trade could never be done, so time was wasted. I think you want this to just be smoother overall, and are trying to make trading smooth for other players, which is great. I just don't think it's a simple solution, the trading systems and zones lead to this. This might be a good suggestion for the feedback section. You could also rig it up yourself I think. Have some generic messages that give a bit of information for your purposes. Probably zone is not important, but something a bit more specific than the general messages most people have. As above, the buyer cares less about the zone than an accurate time estimate and certainty that you will facilitate the trade if they wait. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Sep 9, 2024, 1:20:48 AM

Yes, I am trying to alleviate some of the trade friction. :)
(However, GGG has stated multiple times in the past that much of the trade friction is intentional. They don't want trading to be too easy... ;) ) I do currently have a generic message, but was hoping to improve upon it. But thank you for the feedback and suggestions. |

Respect. I just don't think you can solve this. Like you, I also want to help the player doing the trade, but often doing nothing is actually better than giving more information. Anyone who is playing in trade league will understand that this is part of the system and the trade wont always be facilitated. What I do currently, is I just wait. If it is an item that I know they can get another one of, like say a unique map, I probably just let it go, they will find one. If it is a small item and its less than a couple of minutes after the initial request, I will send the party request when done. If it's more than a reasonable amount of time, I will not send the request, they can try again if they really want it. If it is a larger value item or something that has unique properties, I will do what your saying or once I finished, ping them asking if they sill want it. Sending a belated trade response is not a big deal I don't think. In most cases people can just deny it if they no longer want the item. It can get a bit confusing if they are doing a lot of trades, but often they still want the item and will be happy to get the request. You didn't create this, as you say that is how it is designed. I don't think people are expecting you to respond when you are in different zones. Just like you're not expecting them to wait for you to finish or leave the zone.
You don't have to make your responses completely generic like other people. You could have 3 or four that cover the main situations. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Sep 9, 2024, 10:23:49 PM
