Getting my silly build into t17s

Basic idea: Witch go bonk with big mace. Slightly more detailed: Shockwave cyclone with full convert to cold then to fire, using heatshiver, expedition's end, and yoke of suffering. All using elementalist. My budget: I have a 4 flask mageblood already, 100 div in the bank, and ~100 div worth of junk I could liquidate if needed. My problem: Squishy. DPS is... acceptable... but my survivability is not. I squeezed in 85% evasion and I have 75% (on average) spell suppress, which is good enough for t16s but I don't think is good enough for t17s. Even in t16s I die often enough to not have gotten past level 97. My other defenses are 76% max resists, full elemental ailment immunity, 0 block, 20% phys damage reduction, and no incoming phys convert. Freeze helps a lot too but being melee it isn't keeping me from dying to projectiles or aoes. Notes: I suspect the big problem with elementalist is that 2 of my ascend points aren't so hot. I'm spending them on golems which give very nice base stats (that accuracy boost is saving me a lot of stats elsewhere) but not really as good as other classes getting 20-30% more damage per ascendancy point. Oh well, I'm sticking to this because I've always wanted to make a witch with a huge 2h weapon since it's funny. So, any obvious fixes that could take me to level 100 in t17s? You don't have any physical mitigation other than your golem. I know you've got other defensive layers, like evasion/suppression and fortify, but you also only have 3.5k life. For melee that all sounds pretty low to me. Phys damage is probably going to get through that sometimes.
I don't know if there is an easy fix. I would be trying to get some more spell suppression. Certainly you have a lot of damage, so you might need to change some of that for defense if you do get some ideas of how to get more tanky. Progenisis maybe instead of battle faith and another defensive flask instead of amethyst. Could be that glass cannon is just better though. |

So first of all you have no armor.
Evasion is nice, but you only evade 85% of attacks, 15 % will hit you and if they are physical they will hit you hard. So you have probably too many uniques - where you have less flexibility on stats (not chaos res cap, not spell suppression cap and not much life). Also, if you are not too happy with your ascendencies, did you try Bastion of Elements? I don't know how reliable you generate endurance charges, but maybe you can think about changing your anointment to Disciple of the Unyielding. I am not a pro - but I don't see an easy way to do T17s reliable without dying with this build. |

I'm considering dropping heatshiver/cold to fire and just going pure cold. Huge dps loss (about 50%) but frees up a hat, chestpiece, and ring, which could give lots of defenses and potentially their own damage boosts. Might be able to sneak in determination too since I'd be dropping herald of ash.

Would doppelgängers guise work? Rare chest amour seems pretty powerful with defense buffs this league as well.

The chest is necessary for heatshiver to work, since I can't realistically freeze with only 2% of my damage being cold.
Anywho I have gotten some success putting ritual corpse spectres into the build. Warlord gives me 3 end charges and turtle gives determination. They *mostly* stay alive with just convocation and 4 points spend on getting them some chaos resistance. All my deaths in t16s now come from big elemental hits. 76 max resists isn't cutting it anymore, I think. https://pobb.in/8b6WN9sttI32 Украина в моём сердце

Some Random thoughts:
- Frigid Wake Jewels are decently cheap, you could consider using those and then evaluating if the freeze from that works for your purposes - If you get your phys conversion down to 99% instead of 100 you could tatoo %chance to poison and %chance to bleed, which count as additional ailments for yoke. Well taking y'all's suggestions I've come up with this:

I just need those max ele resists, and the big armor amount means my turtle's determination aura is much more useful (too bad it doesn't show up on pob, even though the warlord's vitality aura does...). Thinking of trying to get an animated guardian next. Would have a -res hat and scorch boots, giving me lots more reduced enemy resistances. Will probably try to see how my spectres survive in t17s before I spent lots of money on an AG though. Getting poison/bleed is a fine idea but it requires a very specific watcher's eye roll range (34-39). I'll grab one if a cheap one pops up with perfect other rolls. Украина в моём сердце
