[3.25]Occultist Death's Oath lazy build
Disclaimer : I'm bad at making builds, but this one turned out good, can zoom zoom t16s and melt everything like butter; build isn't optimized nor running the best gear, but can achieve decent results on low-medium investments. Build isn't budget friendly (as in 20d entry cost for clusters & mandatory gear + maybe 100c for gearing), consider 50-60d for comfy T16 clearing, works on 20-25d but you will die often to either lack of damage, lack of defences, or both; gets better with each upgrade, however small it is, until eventually it makes it I may and will get stuff wrong, do things unoptimally, but I don't care. This is fun and I wanted to share, if you got any opinions on how to improve, I'm not deaf nor a brick wall, as long you provide construtive criticism, changes can be made BUILD CONCEPT :
Spoiler
-Occultist : profane bloom has 50% chance to explode cursed enemies; on top of general chaos stuff that is good for us and curse related -Death aura : you walk near enemies they take chaos damage over time; scales with a lot of things such as chaos damages, over time (+multis), aura effectiveness (yes it is an aura, we scale aura effectiness a fair amount) -Curse on hit ring : here's the fun part, profane bloom is a hit, which can curse... you see where this is going; enemies chain explode, while this doesn't invest a lot in aoe range, it is enough to destroy rooms -Herald of ash : because more kabooms. Some people call this "autobomber" as you litterally left-click and forget your map, it is weaker than the average death's oath, but I like it, explosions are spreading themselves to the edge of the screen Use (vaal) caustic arrow for bosses or stuff that is hard to kill MANDATORY GEAR :
Spoiler
-Death's Oath unique chest : enables death aura -Impresence with despair has no reservation if cast as an aura : extreme synergy with death's aura -cluster jewels : two large 8 passives with unholy grace, unwaveringly evil, wicked pall; 4 mediums 4-5 passives with wicked pall + unholy grace/unwaveringly evil; one small 3 passive for mana reservation efficiency -ring with curse on hit (despair, temporal chain, whatever you can get your hands on) -rest can be rares, you can check PoB for an idea of what to aim for POB :
Spoiler
https://pobb.in/6BRuLNJsyIEN WARNING : this build isn't functional before lv62 bare minimum, you can follow it if you want at lv62 when you can equip death's oath, just rush the clusters to pump your damages asap The settings are on pinacle boss (which we don't do anyways) + x8 wither... because that's the amount enemies get if they enter your withering step range, that's the *realistic* amount of wither stacks you will get during mapping, no padding there SKILL GEMS :
Spoiler
-Bow : vaal caustic arrow + empower + (awakened) swift affliction + efficacy + (awakened) void manipulation + (awakened) vicious projectiles = your single target dps -Chest : NO LINKS REQUIRED, you only need the sockets : (awakened) swift affliction + (awakaned) increased area of effect + (awakened) void manipulation + concentrated effect + efficacy + lifetap -withering step + molten shell + lifetap 1/20 + automation = general qol + triggers lifetap for aura -despair + basphemy; throw in vitality + herald of ash -malevolence + purity of elements + determination + enlighten You can check the PoB for stats, but it is mostly stacking chaos damages, chaos damage over time, damage over time, and their respective multipliers. Stack as much life and armor as you can, spell suppression and resistances. Q&A :
Spoiler
-What exactly is needed to start this build ? Bare minimum is the clusters, as the tree provide little damages for our purposes, and maybe any curse on hit to have explosions spread by themselves for better clearing and more pops -How to roll that many off colors on death's oath ? Corruption + tainted chromas, they remove the stat weight factor; if anything use whatever gem is increasing dps until you can afford the ones you want -How to stop dying ? Problem with death's oath in general : low max phys hit. That means if your max hit is 5k, an enemy hitting you for 5k will one shot you. Physical hits are our bane, we counter elemental somewhat with divine flesh (50% elemental > chaos, +5% max chaos res), spells with spell suppression + lucky, but for physical we are screwed so to speak. Best thing you can do is run a granite flask with increased armor, a basalt flask, molten shell, stack more armor, namely determination + watcher's eye. That's the biggest flaw of this build and the fix I found was to throw more life and armor until physical didn't one tap anymore. Until then, don't rush in enemies without thinking, you will die. Also unironically, kill enemies faster. You don't have a movement skill, but you boast +110% speed average, be faster, touch them, kaboom, and try to dodge. Enemies are often animation locked trying to cast/shoot you, abuse that and kill them before they do; that is also why toxic sewer is good, you will bump into melee range with them before they can react = one tap room -I don't like [aura], can I swap it ? Absolutely, I'd say you can swap freely vitality (some qol when the leech from the glorious vanity isn't healing) and determination (you have a death wish and I respect that) -Mana is too tight Remove vitality, if it is still not enough, remove determination and invest either in a mana reservation cluster or enlighten asap; determination is your defensive layer, vitality is your out of combat/can't do dmg sustain with your flask -What are gear upgrade paths for this ? Going from cheap-ish to expensive as all hell : Gear with higher stats Corrupted death's oaths (either crit resistance or damages) Gems 21/20 or 6/20 for their awakened counterparts Spell suppression tattoos Jewels with good multis + life + chaos damage (they are a small dps increase at x10 the cost, literally life + chaos&dmg over time multi = 2-3d, throw in chaos dmg = 20d) Corrupted clusters to give you even more stats Better curse on hit ring with actual offensive stats for that build (i saw 50-80d average and turned back) Mageblood 2 flask (yes even a two flask one is busted, it fixes your armor issues) Mageblood 3-4 flask What content you should do with this build :
Spoiler
-Anything with squishy mobs and high density, perfect for mapping -Blight is popcorn simulator -Incursion is perfect for this -Performs well in delve -Overall low bossing content -Expedition is popcorn for this -Legion, while great at popping them in maps, it is decent-ish in timeless domain -Toxic sewer is the best map for it, tight rooms, packed enemies What content you should reconsider with this build :
Spoiler
-Delirium because you go pop until you get tanky -Beyond because bosses until you get dps -I'd stay out of ultimatum before mageblood to not go pop every three rounds -Pinacle non-ubers can be done but it isn't comfy -Turbo juiced maps with exarch altars : either get so strong you don't care, or read what you fight -T17 unless you give up on doing the boss until extreme gear levels -Full verisium crop : chance of boss = bad -increased chaos res map mod until higher dps What content you should NOT do with this build :
Spoiler
-Ubers are out, this build is a mapping one, not bossing -Any "one try" content that locks you out on death -Anything bossing intensive -Simulacrum is out as well -Anything overall dangerous -Nasty mods (no regen, recovery rate, aura effectiness even tho death aura is NOT affected, purity of elements and determination are) What I could do being bad on different budgets :
Spoiler
-lv65 without clusters (150c because i bought max rolled stuff) : popping delve out of existence -lv80 with clusters and decent gear (we're talking 6d for the big ones, about 4-6d for medium, spent 8d on a very strong bow, can get one barely weaker for 2d) : able to clear t16 while still getting one tapped from time to time -lv90 with awakened gems and enlighten (+10d, we're 30d in or so) : doing one t16 every 90-100s with low-ish one taps because i didn't set up flasks properly -currently lv95 with better gear and jewels +20d (final budget : 40-60d, depending on if you do it yourself or not): zoom zoom t16 with a death every hour or so due to either darwin award or recklessness, phys still an issue but determination + flasks helped a lot to mitigate that Last bumped on Aug 30, 2024, 8:20:12 PM
