Idea: Static HP bars for ALL bosses on side of screen (preferably right side)
Animes that are based in "video game" worlds do this. Fighting games do this. MMOs do this. Other rpgs like pokemon and things do this, etc.
It covers nothing up, easily identifies that a boss is nearby, never moves or gets lost, remains clearly visible no matter what garbage is happening in the center of your screen or on your buff bar. This needs to be done for ALL boss fights, including normal map bosses. It is so weird and janky that the huge life bars were rolled out.....incomplete and poorly designed. This, to me, seems to be a very basic, foundational visual issue that should have gotten more thought and planning. Clearly, there was a recognized issue that devs wanted to solve. So solve it. Entirely. If you have to copy another game that does it right, then do that. Nothing is going to be "unique" now anyway when it comes to UI visuals. Ya, i think fundamentally the only issue i have with it is you cant see all your buffs When its on top.
