Path of Exile 2 Ranger - Real Bow hero fantasy (Robin Hood, Legolas, Native Americans)
Since my childhood bows have been such an influence to me, I dont know current kids and how they play but our neighbourhood "gang" we all used to have bows and play like "cowboy/native americans" "battles" like it used to be so huge back in day.
After that, LOTR and Legolas continued that bow archer/ranger fantasy, like every one wanted to be Legolas, Im talking like when I was 11-12 years old or something back in school. When World of Warcraft came out back then, I KNEW I wanted to play a ranger(the Hunter)class, just to find out there was a fucking pet stuck to my character and it totally ruined the experience for me. Anyway... Looking at the Path of Exile 2 Ranger class and what's been shown as of yet, I am somewhat disappointed that this true, original just shooting a bow fantasy is not there. What I mean is all the build shown for the ranger have some sort of magic to them, whether Electric arrows or Poison, there is no REAL BOW build fantasy. Pure physical arrows hitting your enemies (maybe shoot 2-3 arrows in a single shot like Legolas could be possible), but I would like the Ranger class to be able to build as pure physical character, just satisfy this real bow shooting fantasy. This would slap so hard! I am 101% sure you(GGG) can make it work and create this class fantasy. I bet there are a lot of people who might find it satisfying and enjoyable to play such a character. No magical arrows, just shooting a normal bow and destroying hordes of enemies that way. It would rock and I for SURE will play it if there's that option. Right now I am more inclined to try out the Mercenary with its Armor piercing ammo, just because its more of a physical type of build instead of the electric/poison ranger. The Ranger is not a true bow hero fantasy and I think the option for a physical Ranger build could fix that. Can't wait to jump into Early Access on the 15th November! Thanks so much! " Split arrow, pass-through arrow, or double-triple arrows in a single shot, all could work for a physical bow Ranger class fantasy. Ricochet sounds fun on theory, but is not always realistic. A good way to fix it is adding a narrow "cone" angle from target enemy, based on the direction of your first arrow. Similar to straight pass-through but working with a narrow cone angle from behind the monster. This could are plausibility. Chaining/tethering enemies together or directly to the ground (stake/arrow with a leash rooting enemies in an area) is also cool, but maybe doesnt serve the purpose of classical bow ranger class fantasy as well as some other skill ideas which are close to the actual act of shooting arrows with a bow. Nevertheless, could be interesting. Another idea is a possible knock-back. Combo that with like a "skewer" mechanic for enemies that get knocked-back into other enemies, sticking them together for a short period. Possible fun unlocked. This leads me to the Mercenary's crossbow, more powerful ammo that knocks-back the player character a slightly/short distance, without losing control ofcourse, might help with kiting enemies?? I had this idea for a while now, haven't seen it in any shooter game yet (doesnt mean its generally bad, just needs to be tested first) but thats just "if you like the idea". Maybe on a powerful cooldown? I know the ranger has some backwards dash-shootting the bow seen at the animations showcase which is a good thing. Thanks so much! |
