Smelting Ore Issue

Ore gets smelted into Bars even though nobody is assigned to it.
My Verisium gets smelted into Bars, but i have nobody assigned to it, but i need just the Ore to Upgrade the Town on multiple Spots. Since you need other Ressources and Gold aswell to upgrade.. Thx Last bumped on Nov 16, 2024, 3:47:50 AM

" you need to remove ALL worker from smelting to prevent it workers would autoswitch to another ore to smelt if the assigned ore is running out Alt method is having a large number of ore of specific type , and assign worker on it so that it would not run out of ore to work on other ore. Thanks @neohongkong for posting the answer! What poor game design on the part of GGG! The very least they can do is tell us this in game. But what really should happen is either they remove requirements for raw ore for upgrades, or make smelters not work this way.
