"Chaos damage with hits is lucky" Runesmithing enchant, local or global?
" Neither description nor tags mention attacks, so it should apply to both spells and attack hits. |

"lucky" mechanic, by mathematical definition, has to be global. It is the last thing to happen in the damage calculation phase.
Also, this definitely works with both attacks and spells because it is global "chaos damage with hits", and not "chaos damage with attack skills" or "chaos damage from attacks with this weapon", etc. Last edited by mefistozxz#6750 on Oct 3, 2024, 12:05:47 AM

i know this is kinda defrosting a thread, but does "lucky damage" indirectly improve chaos (and poison?) DOT damage?

" No, at least not for poison, of that I'm certain. This is a slight simplification, but poison scales with generic increases to damage, such as X% increased chaos damage, x% increased damage, and of course the more specific ones like X% increased damage over time, etc. The important thing is that it is never based on hits or, as a result, attacks. It feels frustrating that it works that way sometimes, but it's done that way so chaos resist isn't factored into it twice, either by reducing your output twice or giving penetration/exposure double effect. Anything that works on a "hit" or modifies "attacks" doesn't help poison at all. +X% increased attack damage is the most obvious victim here but in the case of the enchantment, the original source that made the poison is rolled lucky and therefore does more damage, but that increase isn't then translated into an increase of poison since a poison will do the same damage regardless of how you roll on your attack. The only exception I can think of to the above would just be accuracy/chance to hit since you aren't going to do the poison in the first place if you don't actually hit.
