No runesmithing on unique weapons?

GGG have stated that runesmithing doesn't work on unique weapons in the league FAQ.

As far as i can tell, runesmithing is the only source of borrowed power this league.

So, if your build uses a unique weapon...

1) no borrowed power
2) no need to build the runesmith building unless you want to craft to sell
3) any runes you get are only good for selling?

First off; every player is free to wield whatever weapon they want. No one is forcing you to wield a unique weapon, or play a build requiring a unique weapon.

Secondly; do we actually know that the runesmith table is only usable with weapons? In the trailer, the interface was showing icons for all item slots.

Thirdly; enhancing unique weapons with modifiers from other unique weapons... While it sounds fun, it sounds even more OP.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

The Settlers landing page only mentions Runesmithing enchantments for weapons.

The trailer and content reveal show a variety of icons at the top, but they're all for different weapon base types. Unlike the crafting bench which groups all weapons together under "one-handed" or "two-handed", the Runesmithing window has icons for One-Handed Swords, Two-handed Swords, One-handed Axes, Two-handed Axes, etc.

...check to see if there is an enchantment that replicates the mechanics of that unique weapon or provides an even greater benefit to your build so you can make an even more powerful rare. If not, probably consider a different build.

Likely, builds that have no viable enchantment option are going to drop in favorability this league, as the enchantment system seems extremely powerful.
we have to wait to see which mods are available. i doubt we will see mods like pillar of the caged god "16% increased Physical Weapon Damage per 10 Strength" because that in a high tier staff would be super broken.

which crafting does this apply to, please?

In just did the mandatory craft, after rescuing the lady from the temple (forest area) but the runesmith didn't appear. I made sure to have the chest piece on. do you need to be wearing the full set, or do I need to craft at a different place?

I just used the bench in my hideout. Thought I would get the bonus, but nothing happened.
