What I've seen from PoE2 so far...
Most are thankful that PoE2 is happening, but at what cost to PoE and what us the supporters will gain in return?
PoE2 arrival dictates what else won't be coming to the market. Performance has been an increasing issue due to the engine in combination with the game design. The main difference between both games is that PoE2 will use a modern and better optimized engine with a graphical update and different or better combat, alongside content that will be eventually consumed. Through the decade the market has been abundant with new releases of single player, story driven games, yet I still preferred playing games developed decades ago like some Ultima Online server, Counter Strike mod, WOW Draenor/Legion for couple of months and Marvel Heroes Online and before these titles alongside PoE I spent the most on DC Universe Online that released on Jan 11th 2011. Where will PoE2 gain/find its success and growth? It all depends on what it will offer that the rest of the upcoming products won't. GGG sold me their product because it arrived during a favorable time as a completely F2P, online, competitive game that features/promoted ranking/ladder with plenty of opportunity to separate from the competition, something that's been also diminishing over the years, but I'm not gonna write here how/why. Twitch and YouTube are both platform that also offer opportunities, because these companies understand their value and revenue is dependent on user uploaded/streamed content to gain views and sell ads, but also from this industry and what is or not being released, like the console and PC hardware industry. 2025, 2026 or even by 2030 we may finally get the type of game or games that I haven't seen in development since 2010, because after DC Universe Online I've spent a total of $90 USD on newly released products ($70 being on PoE). Two things can suck, one where you have two or more great games that you can't wait to sink your free time and enjoy spending your money on, but in the end because you can only play one at a time and being aware what else you're on missing on, but the worst is when you have the free time and money, while you don't have one good enough game to play, while being aware that you aren't either burned out from gaming or that you have unrealistic/unreasonable standard/expectations. From all the info I've gained about PoE2 so far I'm not feeling that hype, where I would see PoE2 remaining my main game beyond 2025. The PoE2 info so far has been about its graphics, combat and extra content that will be eventually consumed. Most great civilizations throughout history had greats leader, but what defines one a great leader? Great leaders want to learn, to be educated, who're aware of their limit of what they can do and consult with others, ask questions even if they may have some answer. Great leaders are surrounded by advisors who're sharing their opinions/criticism and ultimately the leader makes a decision that will shape the future of their civilization. The future of GGG and the whole industry will continue to depend on what the coders (software programmers) alongside the graphic/animation artists and others will develop that the lead developer decides with the resources at disposal. Intellect, gaming experience and passion (love within) toward gaming are some of the core traits that a leader would have to meet to "relate" with me, where our "vision" would be closer than with anyone else. With a budget of a few millions or 25-50 million in the end the difference in the product comes down to the lead developer and what they see for themselves that would be good enough (or a better) game/product they would be engaged with versus everything else that's available on the market. My biggest issue or criticism currently with GGG it's where the current state of PoE is and has been through the past year given the success and support the company has received and enjoyed through a decade, because this period continues to be highly favorable for companies to be engaged in game development, because of what else isn't available on the market. PoE2 doesn't feel "threatening" or "discouraging", because whatever "competition" it may bring I haven't seen it yet, and this is what GGG should be mainly aware about, so hopefully they do something about it. When would you decide and then to who to give out the keys to your beloved expensive cars? The moment you're aware that the other will be able to transport you to the same destination quicker and safer. An 8-9 year old child will enjoy playing many more games like the many lead developers who're enjoying the games they've developed, that is until they experience/play a significantly better game. Being aware of a failure goes a long way and that's alright, as long as there's resources left to turn it into a success. There are numerous examples in our OP's post history of proud non-support for PoE and GGG, so to then say 'what will we supporters gain in return' in the presence of *genuinely substantial supporters of PoE who ask nothing in return as regards PoE2* is hella tone-deaf.

I actually don't remember that. Probably never saw it. I'd be lying if I said I read many of his posts in full. I'm a hypocrite that way -- I expect everyone to absorb every word I put here, because it is all brilliant and excellent and of course you'd read it...but I get about two or three sentences into a K post and my brain starts to doubt its ability to....to...yeah.
