Make the 10 Atlas mechanics opt-in, not opt-out

The 10 mechanics are all worthless unless specced into. Reverse them to off by default, and you spend a point to turn it on.

It’s a videogame, not an investment portfolio. Parts of a game are not “worthless” because they’re not earning you an optimal income. Begging gamers to dial back their end-stage capitalist tendencies.

I don’t think this would be a good change. For the mechanics that only start to appear in maps, how are players supposed to know whether it’s something they want to play if it can’t show up?

I mean theres no disadvantage to something appearing in you maps. If you don’t want to interact with it, you don’t have to. Boosting and focusing spawn chances on less categories is a move from generalisation toward specialisation, which is the general behaviour of skill trees, so I think the current approach is more appropriate than the reverse.

Um, Betrayal? Beyond? Bestiary?

Beyond doesn't have a base chance to spawn anyway (I'm fairly certain?), so you don't have to engage with it if you don't want to.

The other two, sure. I was focusing on the ten mechanics OP was referring to, but I absolutely accept that some people won't enjoy Intervention encounters or beasts, so that's a disadvantage for them. I'd be happy to see beasts and the Syndicate added to that list.
