Sanctuary of thought is worded wrongly.

It says "Gain 20% of Maximum Mana as Extra Maximum Energy Shield", while it is actually adding: .2BaseMana x (1 + %increased mana + %increased es).


Differentiating base mana and max mana in this way creates scenarios where raising max mana will actually lower energy shield with all other potential influencers being held constant.


One example of this is swapping flat mana abyss jewels for %increased mana jewels in a high ES adorned setup. Maximum mana increases while maximum energy shield decreases. This obviously would not be possible if we were gaining "20% of Maximum Mana as Extra Maximum Energy Shield".


The watcher's eye mod "Gain % of Maximum Mana as Extra Maximum Energy Shield while affected by Clarity" suffers from the same problem and amplifies the effect when used with Sanctuary of Thought.

Why is it unworkable to simply have Sanctuary of Thought add: .2MaxMana x %increased es?
