Banning people for exploits

If I remember Empy got banned and his group during ultimatum league since they abuse an exploit.

Yesterday people been making 6links on 1 handed weapons , shields and even no sockets items. I probably say the discovery was an accident but using it over and over again is probably no longer an accident but an abuse to exploit.

Items in standard like the armour with fire resist of 25000+ still exist in the game.

GGG was vague when to ban or not.

In my opinion overall i think this exploit deserve a ban worthy.

Probably some people will post about "We dont care about the bug its fun" but in reality if this abusing exploits continues the community will just probably run wild coz there is no repercussions.

It's a can of worms I suspect GGG won't touch. They will delete as many bugged items as they can detect and maybe suspend some streamers if they actually did it on purpose and on stream with clear evidence.

Otherwise I don't think much will happen to players.

That'll set a BAD precedent. Exploiters will be emboldened if there is no real consequence for their actions. ='[.]'=

Sure, but tell me how would u determine who to ban and who not to? There are obviously the easy cases where ppl did it 10s or 100s of times and sold the stuff, but there's also ppl who might have done it accidentally and then maybe did it once or twice again and even sold some of those pieces.

Where is the line? Also how to deal with the ppl who bought it? What if the ppl that bought them where the actual abusers that did the abuse itself on a throwaway account because they expected a possible future ban.

I think there are way too many variables that it's just too much work. As I said, maybe they'll ban some ppl they can 100% confirm with evidence who abused it in a huge way to make a profit, but they'll never ban everyone who used the method.
People keep acting like these people using a max socket craft on an already max socketed and unidentified squire “Just didn’t know that it was an issue”

Every place that it was discussed, it was also discussed that it was obviously an unintended exploit.

If GGG wants to retain any trust or integrity, it needs to follow its own terms of service.

that's easy, I am sure they must have logs on who's using what, whoever used that 6S/6L beast-craft recipe on illegal items more than twice.
player agency, where?

"do you guys not have phones?" - blizz 2018
"do you guys not have 2 monitors, 3 overlays, 4 discord, 5 websites, 6 loot filters?" - ggg or smth 2024
"deal with it" - ggg, 2024
They will only ban streamers who exploit on stream because people see it and if they wont do anything it will damage their reputation. Will they do anything with "unnamed" exploiters who are using exploits every single league? Nope. (or they will tell you that they banned exploiters but no one will know anyone who actually got banned, like usual)

Or even puts up several of the exploit items onto the market.
Looking up items there are less than 1k items, shouldn't be that hard to go down the list and ban all the people. Cause funny enough you see the same few names over and over again throughout the 1k listings
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
Given that GGG decided to not delete the bugged mirror service items with -sockets who still have max sockets, all the exploiters not only have an argument to not get banned but also to keep their stuff. It's a similar situation, tho even more op this time. Fwiw not shilling for the exploiters (I haven't exploited this or the other thing), but it is what it is. Could have been avoided by GGG being more consistent with their rules. If they delete these items they also need to delete the -socket stuff, the fire res armour etc.
I agree, they should be consistent in their punishments.

But I'm afraid of another trend that seems to be showing up. I think as we get closer to POE 2 the quality and polish of leagues going forward for POE 1 will be dropping. I'm guessing as POE 2 has a shrinking staff for dev's being moved to POE 2.

Lets be real, this league had some of the worse polish than any other league.

This also may be why they never banned for this exploit this league, they simply don't have the staff to deal with the fallout.

I still think people should have been banned, especially the people who used the exploit from day 1.
