According to lore, who names the mobs?
Did their mothers name them "Pitfist" or "Meatstink" or "Gristlefeel the Unwashed'? Do the other mobs name them?
Edit: Yeah, so the delirium guy just told me that everyone I've slain had a life and family - which probably doesn't count for most of the ghosts and skeletons and totems, also golems and rock guys etc. *but* if the rest of them have lives and families than they were most likely named by their parents. So Omniphobia's parents named him Omniphobia, same with K'dash the Hate Shepherd or whatever and Scumjaws, Agonygasp and so on. I have no idea, but I haven't seen Stinkstink in a while.
I think there may be a pool of names, chosen by RNG perhaps. 😹😹😹😹😹
I do not and will not use TFT. Gaming Granny :D 🐢🐢🐢🪲🪲🪲 | |

" K'Dash the Hate Shepherd was originally just Kevin, the Shepherd until the day he flipped out and started spray painting angry graffiti on the sheep his was supposed to be watching. K---- (K with 4 dashes was too long) so they just shortened it to K with a single dash. Omniphobia was a kid with a strong fear of chewing sounds, and was named NomNomPhobia by his parents. Poor record keeping and a few transposed letters led to Omniphobia. As to how Perpetus and Piety got their names, there might be a non-canon story about that somewhere... I wouldn't take everything good ol' Delerium says as the unvarnished truth. Most of the monsters in the Atlas for example are not 'people' in the same sense, they are reflections of the atlas itself, shaped by memory and thought. That's why the Conqurorers spawn mobs thematic to the, they are being shaped by lose warlords directly.
Many of the monsters seen in events, K'Tash, the Hate Shephard for example, are outer beings, things from beyond the physical (and beyond the Altas), the endless masses of the scourge, either some sort of outer realm of chaos constantly trying to claw into reality (as it seem to suck a lot where they are), or perhaps the 'end of the road' when timelines collapse. Presumably these entities are selfnamed, as Affliction drives home, names provide identity and thus power. Without a name, a concept cannot be believed in, cannot be made real, it would remain nebulous and undefined. The same appears to be true for Omniphobia, though the nature of the fake mirror is a little more elusive, as its creator (The self styled Delrium) isn't the most forthcoming entity in the game. It's possible Omniphobia named itself, or earned its name from its victims, or perhaps Delerium named them (Note, Delirum himself is named Tangmazu, or at least, that's the likely entity who's taken up the Delerium). Of course most of the human enemies seen through the campaign are generally either operating under a name given to them by a parent, but I assume many also operate under an alias or assumed name, granted by friends, cohorts or anything elses, like a call sign. So "Stinkstink" may not be what his parents called him, but something his underlings call him mockingly (perhaps he needs a shower? Maybe it's a glad problem...). Like I assume "Dominus" wasn't the name is parents gave him, but a self given new name he took when he started climbing the ranks to intimidate others and lend himself a more fearsome title. His guards likewise, Octavia Sparkfist is likely just named 'Octavia', the 'Sparkfist' is likely a title like old surenames, given her habit of using lightning, just as all of the "Wheeler" and "Smiths" and "Tanners" have an ancestor in the world known for that profession. Piety (as noted above) was not born "Piety" she started operating under that title after she started working for Dominus, though I don't know if she chose the name, or if Dominus did, after her new job. Prior to that during her life as a criminal in Oriath, she was named Vinia when she worked along side Clarissa as a trio of friends (Tolman being the third). This is also why the Divination Card Vinia's Token is there, likely the only depiction of Piety without her helmet on, and a direct reference to her (link; https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Vinia%27s_Token) I hope you enjoyed my unprompted ted talk. |

I'm looking forward to the prequel, Wraeclast Snap, where Isla builds the very first "kamera" and sends you out to get pictures of all the rare creatures, then you go back to town and give them all their silly names over coffee.

"Scum killer" is by far my favorite rare. HOpe they never stop randomizing edgy obnoxius names.

I wish they would add some very mundane names into the pool, like Michael or Rebecca or Herbert as well.
