Soul Eater + whatever is not the issue here - it is the Wisps. That mob enhanced by all 3 wisp types is just asking for trouble.

What bothers me about them, and particularly that lightning storm affix is that it is so spooled up it just seems buggy. Immersion is obviously not a big focus point here, but the strobing lightshow especially with the electric jogger guys and pulsing meatballs is annoying AF. It looks like some amateur modder playing with the game files or something.
Edit: I'm doing some serious tangential extrapolating, but some of this stuff occurs I think as the product of a value clash between the developers of the game and the mainstream promoter base. This game was made by purists who weren't even trying to get rich, it's free and you didn't need to buy stash tabs back in the early days, there wasn't enough stuff, iirc Merveil was the end game boss way back when, it was Dominus when I started playing. At some point, it became the only really good ARPG available, which a loose categorization, because it's got some very heavy simulation elements- i.e. juicing mobs doesn't generally mean you will need more skills to survive, it means you will need to tweak your numbers in the non-combat phase to survive. Yes, there is a need to avoid the puddles, or run from the balls and some insta-kill dodges in boss fights, but an overwhelming majority of the calculations to determine if you die or not are already made by the game when you start the map. You could say this about any ARPG, but POE has leaned way more into the simulation aspect with the all passive skill tree and pre-engagement systems like map rolling, the atlas tree and so on. There is a lot of "building" your sim - (i.e. map or invitation) and then you run it, with a bit of dodging and running around for sport. Digressing though, this game was made by old-school purists with a love for the art and it became a big deal, as streamers became market drivers, which happened somewhat concurrently with POE's evolution, GGG had to adapt with them. Look at their core values of the idea that an item should "mean something". Streamers have trivialized that. Someone like Empy for example is making GGG money streaming the 70 Div drops or whatever, but it's also a big value clash with the old-schoolers who made POE. GGG makes some boss fight that seems hard enough for the plebs and some streamer or content creator completely breaks it. Which is inevitable but it sort breaks the weiner off their Michelangelo's "David". They need the publicity to survive and the streamers need the game to survive but it's an uneasy relationship. You don't see it as much with triple-A releases because they are there to make money, the relationship between the developers and promoters is way more amicable. Streamers have the funds and connections to quickly reach a geared and end-game build, even pretending they aren't RMTing, which I suspect a few of them are. The average pleb does not. There are a few builds and skills that can creep up to fully juiced maps without spending too much, I played one, but most aren't like that. Especially the ones requiring things like Original Sin or the GG 12-passive clusters and timeless jewels. Some builds need those things to do what other builds don't simply put. This is sort of the crux of the dissonance I see on these forums, imho: this game was to be a love letter to enthusiasts, it sustains itself by the efforts and publicity of content creators that trivialize the art of it to provide their base with what they want, which drives the devs to make things like pulsing meatballs and assorted on-death mechanics or nemesis mods, because it is the only way their child has a chance against someone with POB and a spreadsheet. The flotsam and jetsam making up the main player base ends up in the middle. Any one of the usual defenders of the game on these forums can say what they will, but trying to run a wisped map with non-meta or gg geared build is just straight up night and day. My DD necro can just stand in the middle of everything and ignore 99% of it, but trying to run my PB pathfinder without perfect gear? I mean a well geared, but far from meta gear set-up? Without maxxing ele resist and so on? It's an entirely different game and experience. Even running fulcrum which is pretty damn alright for most things, I can't 1v1 for squat. I just log my necro and go trivialize the exact same boss. Some of us are playing a way different game than others and it isn't all the player's fault. Just get a Defiance of Destiny and you're good to go, you wont care about mobs attack speed.
