cannot loot using controller & ultrawide monitor

Just picked up a new ultrawide monitor and... it turns out I can no longer loot anything. As a controller player the right stick gives a rough way to select items on the ground, letting 'A' pick them up. However using the native resolution for my ultrawide (7680x2160, which does have expected black bars on the sides), the right stick now only selects items far to the right of the screen, too distant from my character to pick up the loot.

Interestingly I _can_ still interact with map interactables like the stairs down in cowards trial just fine.

I've spotted a number of posts about this over the past years, is there still no fix?
