READ THIS IF YOU EXPERIENCE STUTTERING/FREEZES
I was experiencing a lot of stuttering/freezing in-game. A lot. Every few seconds my character would just freeze, and the monsters. I thought it to be the servers, maybe my ISP as some people suggest etc., maybe my crappy computer...
I found a fix that worked 100% for me. 100%. I never stutter or freeze anymore. Go into Options and turn off Dynamic Resolution. I know this is on by default and is also recommended, but turning it off was the only thing that fixed it, for me. This might not fix everyone's issue for stuttering/freezing, but it 100% fixed mine. I think it was switching the resolution so often, it was causing freezes. If you need a similar solution to Dynamic Resolution without the freezes because it'll be permanent scaling instead of switch-based, use Nvidia Image Scaling. AMD has their own version, though I am not familiar with it. I'm sure you could find it easily enough. I am not using NVIDIA Image Scaling, just simply turning off Dynamic Resolution fixed my issue. NVIDIA Image Scaling: Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > and enable Image Scaling. I'd suggest lowering the % to whatever feels comfortable for image sharpness. Next, open your game, make sure you are in Fullscreen mode. To get your performance boost, navigate to the game's display settings and set the display resolution to something that’s lower than your native resolution, but also uses the same aspect ratio. For example, if you’re using a 3840x2160 monitor, set it to 2450x1440 or 1920x1080. The lower you go, the bigger performance gain you’ll get, though the image quality will be lower even with upscaling. ![]() This has 100% changed the way my game plays resulting in smooth gameplay without any stutters or freezes. Goodluck and hope this helps some other players! "I care naught for riches, little for friendship. The duel is all I need. NOTE/UPDATE:
This did not actually work for me, but it did seem to make things a bit better. What Ironically did work is moving my Keyboard to plug in the back and left my wireless mouse on the front. This obviously should not be needed, but it fixed my issue. I guess I either have some crappy Motherboard or case or something. Anyway all good now. Posting just in case someone needs this as a last try. ------------- Worked for me also. Thank you, thank you thank you. PS. Thanks a lot. I've had same issue. Disabling dynamic resolution game stopped freezing and stuttering.

I'd like to add that a common setup is also helpful, like disabling the dynamic culling and removing VSYNC and FPS caps from the game after turning VSYNC ON in NVIDIA control panel (I'm using an NVIDIA GPU). I also enabled DX12 and triple buffering, when I started by removing the Dynamic Resolution, it helped but I didn't realize I previously made a lot of change to try and stop the freezing.
Basically, if I add FPS cap or VSYNC/Dynamic culling even after disabling the Dynamic Resolution, the stuttering/freeze starts happening again even with NVIDIA VSYNC ON so I'm adding this here just in case someone still get stuttering and freezing with Dynamic Resolution off like I did. |

Thank you so much. I was stuttering all over the place, having to restart the game whenever it freezes and this was the solution. Thank you, thank you.
