Affliction League, New Ascendancy and Core
Thinking about the Affliction league. Do I like it? Yes! Do I really enjoy it? Definitely yes!
About the new ascendancy - I like them very much, they offer a lot of posibilities like chasing and seeing rare monsters, applying tinctures to your weapons, new blood magic warlock physical dot builds, primalist with a lot of customisation! So my question to all of you is what will happend to those new ascendancy and do they goes Core?If not what will happend to our current 2nd ascendancy? I would love for the new ascendancies to stay. Sadly, some people are allergic to new progression systems and are tired of "new things to do". Me? I see games like these as pure progression, and once the progression is gone, the game/character is gone. I welcome "more to do" and I always welcome more character/build customization.
The forest and the wisps will never go core, so they should just add the new ascendancy points where it fits thematically, maybe some of the forest areas during leveling and some forest maps. I just want the new spectres to go core somehow. I know it goes with the league as a feat so it will go away too if league won't go core. and It's VERY likely the league won't go core. i'm playing spectre autobomber (Dark Marion) and it's a blast so far. I would want to play with other new spectres other time so I hope it will go core somehow.

Id love this league to go core and if it does i can see GGG nerf'en it to the ground sadly, if it does.

The ascendancies would not be a positive addition to the game; I love new progression layers too, but only good ones. These are variously too trivial, too unbalanced, too dull.
The woods are well done, but once you make the decision to not add the ascendancies, there's not really any point keeping the woods either. I mean obviously you could develop the ascendancies further instead of shelving them, but having one particular type of 'extra content' that provides a whole new class (on top of the drop boosting) is still going to feel wildly disproportionate. Corpses, sure. Tinctures, eh. Charms, no. |

This league has been phenomenal. Best league ever made.
Tremendous work by GGG. Yes the ascendancies were really well done and should be added to the game. They weren't broken power-ups, but well balanced. Added something unique and interesting, and also encouraged us to do league mechanic during campaign. The fact that charms and tinctures couldn't be crafted meant some that were in high demand became outrageously expensive - this sort of made the market self-correcting in terms of very strong builds that needed certain combos of mods on tinctures / charms, became super expensive = lower demand for those builds. This should have also encouraged more people to run wildwood for wisps to buy tinctures / charms (to sell) - similar to a Heist runner or Lab runner. Wisps were a great addition as well - similar to deli and sentinel - a mechanic that can layer on top of other content in the game. And forced you to think about appropriate risk and reward. It also opened up more people to farming juiced maps - rares (abyss) for loot bombs, rather than everyone trying to do strongbox farming for div cards. I think this should definitely go core, maybe tone down the wisp bonuses to mobs a bit. | |
I guess it might go core.. but in a somewhat downscaled version.
One wildwood every 20 Maps or so. I'd be fine with that regarding drops. But on the other hand, that would slow down the progression towards the ascendencies too much. So they might tweak it towards higher percentages of Bosses in the Wildwoods or whatever. |

I'd like to see it go core but for the ascendancies. The drops from wisp juicing, in the early game at least, have been nerfed and going forward wouldn't do much for the game if left in the current state but the new ascendancies add flavor without further diluting the passive skill tree.
