Tainted poisonberry tincture of the hunt with ballista totem support?

Ive just picked up a tincture which you can see in my potions list for my current Character ( may change if i decide it really isnt working) but it has this mod
Killing Blows against Rare Monsters have a (20–30)% chance
to grant one of their Modifiers for 60 seconds attack

I`m using Ballista totem support and im rusty on PoE after a long break but will these two work together? im using Scourge arrow of menace just to make it more complicated as its likely the DoT wont work with this so im making a long shot fingers crossed forum post.

Can i get confirmation either way

Yes, go to any map, kill a few rare monsters and see for yourself.

I have tried multiple times but i have so many buffs flicking on and off its hard to tell so ideally if someone far more knowledgeable that me could confirm either way id appreciate it

Too many buffs? Take off all your gear, go into a really low zone, kill a rare, and then you'll be the expert.

Even if it works, the ballista is doing the kill so the ballista will get the mod, not you.

It's a legit question, though, because with Headhunter, for instance, the player gets the buffs even though the totem does the killing. It would be understandable to expect the tincture to work the same way.

Kills made by totems grants the player the experience, but effects such as life gain on kill will not affect the player. Due to the limitations of calculating kill attribution, most damage over time kills from totems will be attributed to the player, which allows their summoner to benefit from on-kill effects such as explosions (e.g. caused by Haemophilia gloves or Gladiator's bleed explosions).

There are exceptions such as with a Headhunter, kills by totems grants rare monster modifiers to the player.

I guess the sentiment is that, since you actually have the item, it would be super easy for you to test it yourself and know for certain. Easier for sure than posting to the general forum and hoping for a good answer.

Not gonna lie I thought HH doesnt work with totems.
