Yoooooo I almost forgot this existed (mysterious one-shots explained)

Every once in a while I die instantly without anything on my screen threatening me. This got me quite confused. Chalked it up to the usual lag.

But the truth is more sinister, as so many Youtubers like to say

You see, I like me some essences as a nice and steady side gig. If the map happens to be buffed up with like, I don't know, 70% more life. And the essence monster is beefed up too. And I decide to go to its corpse and collect a dozen essences...well, I think you know where this is going

Explode corpses affix is still a thing. Incredibly. Because its always been among the top if not the top way to instantly die. To the point where the stupid explode corpses totem was removed. No worries though, we have a monster affix which will make every trip to the next essence monster corpse that much more...thrilling. You think there is an explode corpse monster hiding just outside the screen who is ready to one-shot you? Who knows! Being able to tank Uber Shaper slam is nothing compared to them.

Personal opinion: corpse explosion is one of the worst mechanics ever implemented in this game and I won't lose sleep if it is finally removed.

Extra "funny" for those that dont have uber DPS if its on the Essence mob and the Essence mob gets duplicated. Move to loot Essences => insta dead.

The secret is to not pick up loot. Seriously, 90% of my deaths happen while looting.

You can also shatter them, no explosion. I won't pretend to have read every mob's mods, but with cold damage various on death blows were always the least of my worries. Unless it was some indestructible AN crap of course, like purple crystals, [Removed by Support].
