Capturing Totems on Deck Issue

I didn't see this anywhere, but using a steam deck, I am unable to capture totems. Everything online simply says to left click. I mapped one of my back buttons to left click but I still can't capture them. Is there a mechanic I'm missing or is there an issue with the default controller layout?
