what does item quantity affect?

Hi there, yet another one of my 10.000 questions...
What exactly is affected by a raised item quantity in a map? Ordinary drops of course, but what about "specials", like harbinger shards, content of blight chests, metamorph drops etc.?

Hello again, the Wiki explains it in detail:

~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.
I had read this wiki article but it didn't make it absolutely clear for me... It reads "increases the average number of items that drop from monsters... This includes currency, scrolls, skill gems and divination cards".
Does the last part mean ONLY currency, scrolls, skill gems and d-cards, or is the "includes" an "also includes amongst other things"? Example: I release an essence, when I've killed the freed monsters, drop more essences the higher the IIQ?

The man asked about item quantity. This link is to item rarity. Very different.

Here is a link to the actually relevant wiki page: https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Drop_rate#cite_note-Natural_Drops-11

From that, I surmise that it does affect currency (it's included as a "natural drop", first row on chart). I can't give definitive answers about your questions about "specials", as I can't locate them on the chart. If anyone with knowledge could chime in, that'd be appreciated.
