The F is NFT?

I'm clearly too old for this, but what is NFT exactly?

I've seen some explanations that call it buying a digital copy. Makes sense. If I paid for an MTX here or some p2w s*** in Diablo Immortal - I got it. But so did someone else who bought the same thing.

But then people also call it a unique copy or an original. Like buying the actual Mona Lisa and owning it in your private collection.
Which is the exact opposite...

Do I own the monkey or not?

Remember when you were a kid and they had all those TV commercials for commemorative plates from the Franklin mint? Each plate was given a serial number, so they're the same but different and identifiable.

Kindof like that. So yeah the monkey is yours.
F is for Fungible, which comes from the Latin fungus, mushroom, and bulla, bubble.

It describes a moneymaking scheme that pops up like mushrooms after a spring rain in the cow pastures, and balloons to ridiculous proportions before popping with a sour note.

I read it with unabashed envy, that's for sure.

Never would have thought to trample Shakespeare's questionable invention for such an excellent explanation.

But now we need the N and T in the same mode -- else 'Non Fungible' negates the spirit of the definition. PROVIDE, EATER OF CRUNK. PROVIDE.
I wrote another book. It's better than the first one, and those who liked the first so far agree. Can't really ask for much more than that.
I like to compare them to those old "name a star" scams. You pay real money to have something in a company's database that no one is actually going to respect or care about.

In addition to that, NFTs are extra scammy by people telling you they're "investments." The only thing you're investing in is a pyramid scheme.
