Seismic Trap overlap

Hello everyone,
I am thinking about playing in new league, but i was wondering how viable seismic trap is versus end game bosses on console.
If i remember correctly we can throw trap dirictly on the boss (not near it) or under our feet. I dont want to invest too much time trying it out if damage overlaps for nothing. Has anyone tried it in end game?

Hasn't changed since last league and was very powerful last league. But you are correct in that we can only throw at target or turn off targeting and throw at max range. One of the downsides of controller.
