A Button bound to interact

Using XBox Controller button names here.

With the A button bound to "interact" it is not useful to map the main skill to that button as it leads to involuntary interactions with interactables (Archnemesis Altar for example) and loot pickup.

The A button is the most easy to use button and should be available to use for your main skill.

Similar issue over here. I'd prefer the A button to be bound to interact only - but that's just personal preference.

Either way, the interact button should only try to interact and loot, no matter what the context is. Sometimes, pressing A will attack a nearby enemy you don't really care about and will prevent you from interacting or looting what you want.

So, solution might be: dedicating one button to interaction or allowing the user to unbind skills (and especially default attack).
