Freezing Lag/Infinite Latency

Having an issue I've had before where the game will freeze, and latency will climb infinitely while frozen. Any input from my end happens in-game (verified by other players seeing me move/attack), but my screen remains frozen until it stops after varying lengths of time. When the freeze ends, everything that happened during the freeze plays on-screen very quickly.

Does anyone know what causes this/how to prevent/fix it?

[edit: Had the same issue during the Scourge league, but had no issues since the start of Archnemesis until today (7th Feb)]
