Tainted Mythic Orb not working as intended?

I've been trying to chance some items using Tainted Mythic Orb, and some of the time, for some unknown reason, I get the following error:


I dont know what causes it, but on some bases it works fine (and deletes my item), and then sometimes on another of the same base it wont work at all and gives this error. The only uniques ive successfully managed to get are very common low tier ones.

Is it simply not able to chance any T1 uniques or is there some bug involved?

No, I am only attempting them on an item which definitely has a unique variant which also is not drop-only or league-restricted (if thats still a thing anymore).

The screenshot above was me trying to chance a Void Battery Prophecy Wand. That is the only unique wand on that base type and it's in the global drop pool so there's no reason why it shouldn't work - that's what leaves me confused and disappointed.

Any devs able to confirm or deny that its working as intended?

Base item level doesnt matter when normally chancing but I wonder if this still requires an item level of 80 (its min ilvl for a drop). Are the wands high ilvl?

If its not that then they could just be bugged. Weirder things have happened this league.

Finally, I got it! As stated in the wiki, the item has to have "at least one drop-anywhere unique variant". I tried to craft an unique item that only drops in riruals, which doesn't work. Cheers!
