Do Public Servers exist in POE like they do in D2?

Hey,

Love POE although I think one of the major things that made D2 so successful were the random public servers where you could join absolute strangers on runs or rushing.

Does something like this exist in POE and have I completely missed it?

Without it, I am basically playing alone all the time and the feeling of a community whenever you want it is lost.

you have to press "S" or go to an board in a city and look for public parties.
You can just create one or join a party of player :)
