We can make immortal characters, but what if I told you the game will be 1000x harder? :P Better make the Case for making an Easy Mode for Difficult Games.

An easy mode league (full harvest, no death penalty, higher drops, reroll of most nerfs) running parallel to the normal league would solve so much. If it happens every time someone complains about the game being too hard ----> you know the drill.

The point of killing a character is to stop or slow him from reaching a goal.
Immortality wouldn't be a problem in poe. Imagine your dmg scales with your hp. You used all your portals, keep going to 1hp / 1es, and your dmg is reduced to 99% less. That effectively prevents you from ever killing that boss, if he has enough regen to mitigate your dmg output, which every boss should have at that point. So you're not dead, but the end result is the same. You have to call it a loss and try again. Recover, restart the portals, new map, new boss, new zone creation, to get full hp/es again. That's technically the same as dying. No problem. It's just a flavor formality that most games kill the player to signal a retry is required and you failed. Wouldn't work in a mmo ofc, if there's healers who can res you. "Players can now smack around players who are having trouble very early on."
