Hollow Palm - Vaal Ancestral Warchief Ascendant ("Cheap", Great Damage)

Hey everyone!

This is my very first build guide, I have always enjoyed creating builds in PoE with more or less success. This time I think I nailed something magical that I have been at least really enjoying.

So without further ado my fun and happy Hollow Palm - Vaal Ancestral Warchief Ascendant build. Since we can utilize both Hierophant Ascendancy for +1 totem and traverse its starting point for the Ancestral Bond for another one. Then to top it off we get Chieftain Ascendancy for the life leech which is more than enough to keep us alive.

TL;DR
- Great damage
- OK Clear
- Fun totems (I like these, some do not)
- OK survivability through block, dodge and leech
- Fun to level up
- Currently PoB at level 19 gems DPS for Sirius stands at ~1 million DPS / totem so with 4x totems ~4million DPS (2 normal, 2 vaal)

I am not the greatest player in PoE ever but this build can easily clear T16 maps without trouble at least, this is as far as I have managed to play so far in the league.

After some mulling over in PoB I suddenly had an epiphany of this build and it turned out even better than expected.

There are only one key component in the build which is the:
- One With Nothing gem

Since the Ancestral Warchief can be used unarmed we can build or totem boys to be pretty ridiculous by stacking DEX.

Even with basic rare items you will have more than enough DPS to blast your way to to T16.

There is likely a lot to improve or to innovate here but I will leave it up to you reader to make this your own!

1. Add classic Dex item used by all the One With Nothing builds. Don't think a lot, just slam inside some item (res can be a mess).
2. Add some Str/Int to Dex Jewel in crucial areas into the tree.
3. Cap Impale chance with dread banner and quality (important!).
4. Add Maim mechanics with F&S aura.
5. Chainbreaker notables from Lethal Pride jewel work well with Totem build so add that and Berserk.
6. I play around with ascendecy, Raider give 10%Dodge, moviment speed and Dex, plus phasing that reduce visibility. And if we find a way to generate Frenzy charge give tons of damage.


It's all suggestion, something can be expensive to improve (not too much) or cost survivability. Something can be added, something rejected i understand. But i like your idea have a potential for sure, work on it! Maybe make a choice between Bleed and Impale, generally alternative mechanics,check some Medium Cluster, Ancestral Guidance need to be tested on this build, also Ancestral Reach.

This build have a potential of 20KK dps on Sirus. Thanks for the build, maybe i will try it soon!

Nice suggestions, personally, I would not change away from the Chieftain Ascendancy as the totem life leech is crucial for staying alive in most of the situations as the leech is pretty insane.

The lethal pride and berserk was a great idea definitely will give that a go!

So far the build has been super fun, takes on Sirius easy as well as the damage is pretty spectacular to be honest, while the leech keeps you alive through most situations with the block and dodge as well.

Here is the latest iteration of it that I am currently working with.
- Added Vaal Grace for additional survivability during high mob situations like massive rituals
- Added Soul Catcher flask to support the Vaal part of Totems and the Grace

Yeah i understand, every change come with a cost, Dex item make difficult the gearing process with res. Lethal Price/ Berseker mess Mana Regen. Ascencency cost leech, and we cannot use Trolltimber. Consider also that Facebreaker/Chieftain build it's pretty similar and come with around 3KK dps/totem so to be an 'alternative' to that setting (if you want it of course) must archieve similar dps. But i think your build can do better!

I was serching a 'One with nothing' melee build, there's some Ascendant build on poe ninja (Cyclone/IceCrash), but it's a minority and someone use mirror-tier gear. If have time i will try something melee and after reroll this or viceversa. So keep guide update and thanks again for build ;)
