3.13 Updates
Since GGG slammed spectres and carrion golem and cozied up with skeleton mages, I decided to league start with phantasms and skeleton mages. And damn, it's quite the light show.

Latest Changes:
- Added tanky end-game PoB with 5.3k ES, Chaos Innoculation and Fortify. Bye-bye disco mages.

Key Ideas of the Build

1. Use the absurdly broken Soulwrest staff that takes 10 max phantasm limit to 21. That's more than a 2x damage boost from a single support gem!

2. Deal with high mana reservation requirements using the weirdly broken Victario's Influence and purity cluster jewels.

3. Say f*** no to six links, since Victario's influence and Soulwrest work without links.

4. Scale damage through easily available Vengful commander clusters.

Build Stats

Offense
- 20-30+ Million Sirus DPS (No awakened gems, No alt quality gems, No cluster jewels)
- Phantasm have built-in pierce projectile for great clear.

Defense
- 5.3k ES
- 82% elemental resistances
- 60-65% Chance to Evade
- 2k Bone Barrier Shield

Misc
- Undead Secret Service (With 34 minions out on the field enemies better invest in pierce)
- 10% Spell/Attack Dodge Chance
- 10% Spell/Attack Dodge Chance
- 20% Attack Block Chance

Pros
+ Very cheap. No six links.
+ High single target DPS
+ Great clear.

Cons
- Squishy minions. Need to manage re-summons.
- Arcanist brand version requires landing brands on enemies and casting desecrate seperately for boss fights.
- Not giga tanky. Pushing delirium maps gets tricky.

Deafening Essence of Build:

Low time investment and game knowledge requirement. I mostly play on the weekends and I only really started playing this game since Delirium. So I'm making this build for casual filths like me.
- High number of cheap uniques and rares. Beginners can buy gear with guaranteed rolls. No six links for high tier mapping or expensive cluster jewels.

Easily to play.
- Build doesn't topple over because your minions ate a sirus explosion or got bum rushed by aura stacked rare or unique monsters.
- Phantasm AI is a bit more aggressive. Kills without knowledge of game mechanics.

Bosses (need to test it on A8 Sirus) will phase or melt in seconds.
- Highly useful in the 3.13 boss killing meta.

Look at Early and Mid Campaign passive skill trees in the End of Campaign PoB: https://pastebin.com/6TwRrBnn to learn about the order in which to allocate passive skill points.

For gem choices and levelling walkthrough, I'm going to recommend Kay's excellent videos until Act 4. ACT 1 + ACT 2 + ACT 3 + ACT 4

For Act 5 and after, use the skill gems mentioned in the End of Campaign PoB in the PoB section. Skeletons with melee splash support provides good clear but still keeps good single target DPS to phase Act 10 Kitava.





How to Gear up to End-game, Upgrades Priority Section

Campaign can be finished simply using rares due to insane DPS output of Slave Driver Spectre + Skeletons + Zombies + Carrion Golem, with defense carried by Vitality aura. View levelling section or PoB section for more details.

Until you have enough currency to buy a Soulwrest your main damage link will be Summon Skeletons (or Vaal). Keep using that if you get 5 link or 6 link drops.

As you gather some currency in white maps, I would recommend getting any and every of the following items when someone posts them for the recommended price on the guide.
1. Victario's Influence (Boosts damage for your existing phys minions (Skeletons, Zombies) using Haste, Pride and if possible dread banner)
2. Soulwrest (At this point phantasm will do physical damage)
2. Careful planning (For managing dex requirements of Haste as it levels)
3. Jinxed Juju (Until you can afford the mana reserved amulet)
4. Higher res and ES rares (Ring and boots)
5. Triad Grip (Don't use it yet)

At this point, you have the basic gear to go into elemental damage. Take Elemental Equilibrium on the passive skill tree and equip Triad grip. At this point, if you have enough chaos for a annoint, then annoint the amulet. Otherwise, drop Wrath or Hatred until you can afford the annoint. After annoint get the rest of the gear on PoB in any order you see fit.

Heh, you beat me to it. I was planning to do a Victario's focused skeleton mage variant as well (currently running zealotry & wrath with plans to add hatred later). Luckily that seems to be the only intersecting point and the builds will be different enough.

Oh cool. I just found it real hard to scale the damage with dipping into only one element. That's why Hatred and Wrath. Plus EE can give exposure to both elements at the same time + the new hydrospheres provide exposure to both those elements.

How did you scale damage with just Wrath?

PS: I really liked your skele archer build last league definitely gave it a try before giving into the sydicate operatives madness.

Absolutely on point. When pushing into T16s, doing the manual desecrate flesh offering rotations started feeling awful. Specially with a thousand aura boosted rares rushing you inside the ritual. I'm almost done fixing that issue with arcanist brand. Then it's,
1. Arcanist brand to automate Flesh offering (hence summon phantasm) and hydrosphere
2. Skele mage self cast
3. Sniper and Signal prey self cast for single target

So then it should be a 3 button playstyle.

I'll update the build as soon as I've tested it out.

I'm doing two elements as well in this variant, lightning (primary) & currently cold (secondary) - think that's the only way to scale mages properly unfortunately and I think most have come to this conclusion. The primary element (lightning) is just scaled harder.

I really like the idea for hydrosphere - I'll be going another route, but hydro's definitely a good one.

Converted a work in progress necro I was playing into this build because it looked fun and was a build I wanted to make a league or two ago. Feels good so far and is very enjoyable to play. Looking to see what it can do later on in the game (level, maps, etc) but as for now just cleared Uber Lab at level 76 on this and it was really smooth. Took it a little slow due to trap day and was too lazy to swap flasks but it turned out nice at the end! Looking forward to seeing what adjustments you find fit for it.

Here's a video showcase of me running said Uberlab with gear/gem levels earlier if anyone is interested.
Any news on automating the phantasm spawn ? I'm very interested on the results :-)

The red maps PoB uses the Disciple of Kitava jewel/Keystone, which should automate the spawning while clearing trash. When going against bosses, there's Arcanist Brand - Desecrate - Flesh Offering as well.
