Joining group without being friends?

Hi,

i am on XBox and somebody put me on his friend-list (xbox).
But i did NOT put him on my friend-list...

He invited me to a party, but we cant party together (Wheel is spinning: Joining party... and then nothing happens).

Do we both have each other on the friendlist to play in a party?!?

So is it possible to party with randoms?!?

I can't speak to XBox, but it is possible to party with people on PS4 without anyone friending anyone else.

This is most commonly done for trading through trade chat.

If you select someone's name in trade chat (or town or anywhere else), there's an "invite" option.

Also note that there's an "allow friends to join" checkbox. I don't *think* this is necessary when you invite someone. I believe it allows people on your friends list to join on their own. But I'm not certain.

You'll see this checkbox in the upper right of the menu screen in the group section where it says your name and "Group (1/6)". It will say there what keys to press to toggle it. (On PS4 it's R3 + Up Arrow).

That's likely the issue.

The behavior you're experiencing is very likely related to NAT settings as detailed in that last link.

It's a friggin' overly complicated system due to Micro$oft's draconian levels of control over user-accounts. Nobody escapes...

All you have to do is say in General Chat "I'm giving away free Exalted Orbs! Invite to group for free stuffs!"

You'll be swamped with "volunteers"... :)

(Actually, just post a request to test your grouping ability in chat and someone will surely help out. Seeing how laid back and friendly other players have been during the Flashback league on XBox has been... very refreshing, considering normal League play.)
